The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is enhancing the monitoring process of schools in connection with the increase in co-infection across the country. Control over strict observance of hygiene rules in general education institutions will be tightened.

All public schools throughout Georgia are supplied with the necessary means for infection prevention. In addition, state-funded intensive systematic testing of public and private school teachers and administration staff is an established way to prevent the further spread of Covid-19.

Over the past week, monitoring and mandatory testing have confirmed the virus at 0.1% amongst the teachers and school administrators and at 0.03% among the students across the country. It should be noted that there are no cases of internal spread at schools so far.

At the request of the parents, also due to the confirmation of the virus, there are 37 schools and 117 separate classes across the country that fully switched to remote learning. (It is noteworthy that two days ago, there were 52 full-time distance learning schools across Georgia. 15 of these schools will resume classroom learning from Monday).

In case the virus is detected, schools will act in accordance with the protocol established by the Ministry of Health. If necessary, individual classes or the school as a whole are switched to distance learning for a certain period of time.
