In the framework of the program Deer Leap, the Education and Science Infrastructure Development Agency of the Ministry of Education and Science, together with the donor organization Skhivi XXI , has launched a new project of providing schools with computer techniques. The technical specs’ of these computers are in compliance with the modern standards. The First Deputy Minister Akaki Seperteladze visited Tbilisi public school №3 and presented the school with 13 computers. The Deputy Minister spoke about the advantages of the new computer programs and mentioned that current school infrastructure cannot afford to have modern subject laboratories. These new programs will give the children opportunity to use virtual subject laboratories for observations and experiments, also to receive all necessary information rapidly.

 Totally, 2,720 computers were presented to Georgian public schools by the donor organization Skhivi XXI. Skhivi XXI also provided the licensed operational system Windows for these computers.

As a result of this project, the ratio of (schoolchild/computer) has been distributed in the following manner:  The average is 1 computer for 20 schoolchildren. The total number of computers is 29,240.

Supplying schools with computers is being carried out together with providing internet connection. By the end of 2010, at least 1,428 schools and Educational Resource Centers will be provided with internet connection.  As a result, 75% of school children will have an opportunity to use internet. By Spring  2011, all public schools and Educational Resource Centers will be provided with high quality internet.
