The annual conference of the International Association of University Presidents  (IAUP) held in Baku covered the theme of - "Globalization and New Challenges in Higher Education". Within the conference framework, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Mikheil Chkhenkeli delivered a speech to the audience and thanked the Azerbaijani Oil and Industry University for organizing the event.

Moreover, Mikheil Chkhenkeli spoke about the international standards of authorization of higher education, which, in turn,will yield knowledgeable young people who can cope with the challenges of the modern world and the labor market. He also emphasized a more efficient model of university funding, which will enable the universities to increase the scope of research and develop new technologies.

Furthemore, the Minister emphasized the importance of internationalization of scientific circles, and touched upon the work of the International Center for Education, which enables citizens of Georgia to put into practice the education and business networking they have acquired abroad with their foreign counterparts.

Towards the end of the speech, the Minister explained that he welcomes the IAUP summit conference in Tbilisi, for the 2020 session, which he intends to host at Tbilisi State University.
