The public schools teachers, administrative staff and the teachers of the other educational institutions will be provided with the health insurance vouchers. The insurance vouchers will be distributed in the public schools and the teachers and the administrative staff will select the insurance companies of their choice.




Insurance voucher covers the following medical services:

• Service of the family doctor -100%; unlimited
• Planned surgical  operations- 100% 
• Emergency hospitalization, 100%, unlimited
• Ambulatory services- 100%, unlimited
• Chemotherapy-  100%
• Maternity costs -100%

Public schools teachers, administrative staff and the teachers of the other educational institutions will select the insurance provider companies from December 15, 2009 to   December 31, 2009.

Provider companies’ administration and government officials are not allowed to intervene in the process of selecting the provider companies by the beneficiaries.

”  The ministry will use its resources to ensure that the teachers’ rights are fully protected while selecting the health insurance companies “, announced the minister at the briefing.

19 Million GEl was allocated from the government’s budget for 2010 to provide insurance to 83 000 beneficiaries. Each teacher will get a voucher with a monthly cost of 15 GEL.

The governments’ decree # 256 regulates the process of providing the health insurance to the teachers.
