Minister of Education and Science Dimitri Shashkin visited village of Akhalkalaki public school in Kaspi District and conferred the health insurance vouchers to the teachers and administrative staff of this school.

After explaining the insurance voucher program conditions, minister highlighted that the beneficiaries are free to select the insurance companies and they will enjoy a free medical service with the overall cost of 25 000 GEL per year.

Public schools teachers, administrative staff and the teachers of the other educational institutions will select the insurance provider companies from December 15, 2009 to December 31, 2009.

“The teachers are our special concern. The ministry will use its resources to ensure that the teachers’ rights are fully protected while selecting the health insurance companies”, declared the minister at the meeting.

19 Million GEl was allocated from the government’s budget for 2010 to provide insurance to 83 000 beneficiaries.
At the meeting, Minister Dimitri Shashkin also discussed the current problems in education system and future plans.
