Minister Met the Public School Principals

Minister Dimitri Shashkin met the public school principals of 170 public schools from Tbilisi and 70 districts of Georgia. Dimitri Shashkin shared his thoughts on ongoing education reforms, talked about the existing problems in education system and discussed the ways of solving them.

At the meeting, the minister focused on the changes introduced to the national curriculum, in particular, calculation of the annual and trimester mark.  Minister highlighted that, the new assessment system objectively reflects the student’s knowledge and requested the principals to provide thorough information to the teachers, students and the parents on this issue.

At the meeting, the Minister also discussed the following issues: improving the teachers’ material conditions, health insurance vouchers, school exams, certification of the teachers, school textbooks, etc.  Dimitri Shashkin also answered the questions on financing the small size schools, the principal’s salaries; rehabilitation of the schools, principal’s election, etc.
