Minister Attended the New Year Celebration Event at Algeti Public School №2 in Marneuli Municipality

Minister of Education and Science Dimitri Shashkin and Kvemo Kartli governor David Kirkitadze visited Algeti №2 public school in Marneuli Municipality and attended the event  “New Year  Celebration Traditions in Different Regions of Georgia”. The event took place under the scope of President of Georgia’s program” Qualified Teachers in the Regions Populated by the Ethnic Minorities” and Algeti №1 and Algeti №2 public schools students participated in the event. The Georgian language and literature teacher Anna Babluani and schools students presented the New Year celebration traditions, Georgian folk dances were also staged and songs performed.

The program “Georgian as a Second Language” is administered by the ministry’s Teacher Professional Development Center (TPDC), the program aims at improving the level of Georgian language in the regions populated by the ethnical minorities. Within the frame of this program, 50 Georgian language teachers were selected and sent to Akhalkalaki, Ninotsminda, Tsalka, Gardabani, Marneuli and Kakheti region public schools. The teacher’s salary amounts to 1000 GEL per month.

TPDC director Sopho Gorgodze and the representatives of the local government also attended the event.
