The conference organized by the National Assessment and Examinations Center was held on the topic of "State and International Assessment: Main Challenges in School Education".
A room commemorating the famous Georgian literary scholar- Vato Rodonaia was opened at Vakhtang the VI building of the National Library. Mikheil Chkhenkeli – The Minister of Education and Science stated that Mr. Rodonaia and his group were amongst the first scholars to study the problems of Georgian literature and took decisive steps to liberate Georgian schools from its Soviet legacy. There is no doubt that this newly opened space will serve as an inspirational place for people who value literature, art and new way of thinking – stated the Minister in his commemorating speech.
Students of Public School № 126 held the Anti-Bullying campaign on the International Anti-Bulling Day. Within the scope of the event, the primary level students presented posters on how to fight against violence and painted the schoolyard with thematic symbols. The students of secondary level held various debates on the matter and ended the campaign by screening a film they created. The deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia – Lia Gigauri attended the event.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli – the minister of Education and Science of Georgia, held a meeting with the director of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation – Manuel Zager, the head of Eurasia Division of the Agency – Claudio Toniola, Ambassador of Switzerland to Georgia – Lucas Bellinger, director of Swiss Cooperation in South Caucasus – Olivier Burke, and the head of Swiss Economic Development Program in Georgia – Beka Tagauri. The meeting focused on the ongoing changes in the education sector and the growing role of vocational education in this process.
The World Day of Fighting against Bullying has been commemorated at the classical gymnasium in Tbilisi with goodwill, warmth and kindness. The heart-shaped colorful balloons at the school foyer created a wonderful environment. Children with colorful stickers expressed their warm messages on the main clipboard.
The Embassy of the United States to Georgia hosted the inauguration of the Fulbright master’s program. Mikheil Chkhenkeli – the minister of Education and Science of Georgia, along with the deputy Ambassador of the US to Georgia – Elizabeth Rudd and the Director of Bank of Georgia Kakha Kiknavelidze attended the ceremony.
Students of Komarov School, in the form of a national team, have won several silver medals, diplomas and were placed amongst top 15, at the European Mathematical Olympiad. The Olympiad was held in Florence, Italy, where 195 students participated from around 52 countries. The Georgian team consisted of Tamar Korkotashvili, Tinatin Kokoshvili, Ana Onoprishvili and Mzia Abzandadze.
The Center for Law and Economics was founded in cooperation with Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, and Tbilisi Open University.
The Center aims at studying the legislative, scientific and practical process in the fields of law and economics, as well as creating effective responses to problems and upcoming challenges, whilst informing the public with the results of the research.
