Enhancement of existing productive cooperation and implementation of joint educational and scientific projects was discussed at the meeting of Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Georgia, Justin McKenzie Smith. Special emphasis was made on organization of joint scientific researches, development of education quality in Georgia and support for exchange programs.
Dialogue was held with the participation of the representatives of the Government of Georgia and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on the issues of disability. The goal of the workshop was to identify the shortcomings by involvement of the representatives from different agencies that prevent the children with disabilities from benefit of social services. Dialogue also implied elaboration of specific recommendations and determination of future steps. From the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, Deputy Minister Lia Gigauri participated in the dialogue.
Aleksandre Tevzadze, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia visited St. Grigol Peradze Tbilisi Teaching University. The Deputy Minister viewed the renewed learning environment of the university, auditoriums, chemistry and surgical laboratories and also participated in opening event of the International Conference of Students.

Luka Lomtadze is a third-year student of Computer Engineering of San Diego State University- Georgia. Luka is the first from this university, who will get an internship at Facebook head office. Facebook has chosen Luka among 300 students out of 250,000 students and invited him on the position of Software Development in Silicon Valley in Menlo Park in summer. “To get to Facebook was my long time dream and I knew sooner or later, I would have achieved my goal,” - says Luka.
First of all, I would like to express my sorrow for the tragedy that took the lives of two young people and reveal my condolences to their parents, relatives and the whole society.

The issue of funding of the affected students living in the villages adjacent to the demarcation line of the occupied territories was discussed at the Government meeting. It was decided that the Ministry of Education and Science will fund teaching of the students in 2017-2018 years.
