The newly rehabilitated building of Khashuri First Public School was opened. The modern standards building is equipped with the necessary equipment and is adapted for people with disabilities. It should be noted, that Khashuri First Public School has a status of intangible monument of cultural heritage and is a major liability in this regard. Last year, the school celebrated 100th anniversary.
Winners of the literary competition “Autumn Legends 2017” were nominated in Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Khatia Iatashvili, the student of Shota Rustaveli Theater and Film Tbilisi State University took the first prize, Aleksandre Kalmakhelidze, the student of Tbilisi State University was nominated on the second place and Mariam Chumburidze, the student of Georgian-American University took the third place.
Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli met with the former UNICEF representative in Georgia and currently CEO of International NGO “Aflatoun International” in the Netherlands Roeland Monasch. At the meeting the parties discussed the organization’s activities, which are focused on development of educational modules through innovative methods, formal and non-formal education, that will assist the students and young people in development of competences required for the 21st century, such as social education and basic financial business skills. The prospects of future cooperation in this regard were discussed at the meeting.
Labor Skills Development Program is successfully carried out among the pupils in 138 public schools of Georgia. First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia - Ketevan Natriashvili and Deputy Minister - Lia Gigauri visited one of these schools - First Experimental School of Tbilisi and attended the labor skills course in the field of confectionery and restaurant business.
The students enrolled on 2017 autumn admission session started learning in vocational colleges. Mikheil Chkhenkeli, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia personally congratulated the students of Vocational College “Aisi” and, together with them, wished success to approximately 8,000 new entrants.
Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli met with US Ambassador to Georgia Ian C. Kelly. At the meeting, discussions focused on bilateral productive cooperation in the field of education and science. Particular emphasis was made on the importance of investments made by the US Government and the activities of Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in Georgia.
First Deputy Minister will be Ketevan Natriashvili again. Deputy Ministers - Lia Gigauri and Teimuraz Murghulia will remain on the same positions and the fourth Deputy will be the Associate Professor of Tbilisi State University, Physician Aleksandre Tevzadze.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, in cooperation with the vocational and general educational institutions, implements a labor skills development program in the school pupils, on the basis of which the pupils will have the opportunity to study different professions, learn and develop the necessary basic skills. The program enables the educational institutions to get united and to collaborate through making school life of our pupils more interesting and varied.
The European Vocational Skills Week has been launched in Georgia aiming to improve attractiveness and image of vocational education. Within the frameworks of the Week, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the German International Cooperation Society (GIZ) organized a conference “Skills for Tourism and Tourism for Skills”, which referred to the issues of teaching with the work-based dual approach in the tourism sector.
The training center was opened at the base of company “Knauf”, where any applicant for education and retraining can get special vocational education in different areas of dry and traditional construction free of charge.
Within the frameworks of the grant competition of the Millennium Challenge Account’s project - “Vocational Education for Economic Development”, Community College “Spectrum” was equipped with the laboratories of latest standards.
The conference – “Democratic Citizenship and Human Rights Education in Eastern Partnership Countries” - will be held on November 21-22, 2017, at the National Center for Teachers Professional Development.
Tbilisi Classical Gymnasium joined the action “I am here”, aimed at establishment of a center for people over 15 years old with autistic spectrum. The idea of establishment of the center belongs to “Autism Research and Promotion Foundation”, which was established by parents of children with autistic spectrum.
