The Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the Government of Estonia, United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and Foundation “Innove” on a three-year partnership for the purpose of preschool and general education reform in Georgia.
The members of the Board of Trustees of European Foundation and Caucasus Research Resource Center (CRRC) met with the Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, Minister of Education and Science Aleksandre Jejelava and got acquainted with the performed innovations and future plans of the Ministry. The delegation consisted of Chairman of the Board of Trustees David Lee, German diplomat Dieter Boden, former head of the mission of the International Organization for Migration Mary Shian and others.
For the 2017-2018 academic years, the II stage of the universal electronic registration of first grade pupils will begin on May 8 at 9:00 a.m. on the website: www.registration.emis.ge.
The Board of Directors of public and private schools is set up with new members once in every three months, and new members are elected by the directors themselves. The regular session of the renewed Board was held today, which was traditionally opened by the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia. At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Aleksandre Jejelava talked about all the important novelties and then the members of the Board presented the issues provided for under the agenda, each of the issues and the ways of their solution were discussed.

Campaign “One Day in Profession” was launched in schools for popularization of teacher’s profession and promotion to career planning and professional orientation among the pupils. The campaign includes the activities such as the action – “A Pupil Teacher”.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia starts improvement of the situation existing in school canteens and regulation of this field - the problem has not been solved for many years in this regard. According to the specialists, unhealthy food products are available for schoolchildren in the school canteens, threatening the health of the young people.
A new model for training of vocational education teachers will be launched for the first time in vocational education, which is based on the best experience of Switzerland in this area and envisages introduction of additional university programs i.e. minors for acquisition of profession of the vocational education teachers. The first minors will be introduced in Ilia State University for the teachers of agricultural field. Afterwards this experience can be extended to other universities in Georgia as well.
