The parliament of Georgia hosted an exhibition “Support Tobacco-Free
Environment”. The exhibition was attended by the First Deputy Minister
of Education and Science of Georgia Koka Sepherteladze and
representative of the Parliament, Ministry of Health and Labor, Local
and International Organizations.
First Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Koka Sepherteladze and
the head of the Social Service Agency under the Ministry of Health,
Labor and Social Affairs, Ramaz Sulamanidze visited “Auto Life” factory
and met those young people who take up an internship there.
Today, 12th graders are taking high school leaving exam in foreign
languages. This time, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia
Dimitri Shashkini observed the process of examination at Rustavi Public
School №4.
The
Minister of Education and Science, Dimitri Shashkini, the director of the
National Examinations Center, Maia Miminoshvili and the head of EMIS, Giorgi
Gulua summed up a first day of the high school leaving exams.

Video cams have been installed at all schools to make the examinations process
transparent.
High school leaving exams 2011-2012 started on May 21 at
9 am in all schools of Georgia with the exam in Georgian Language and
Literature. Educational Management Information
System (EMIS) will technically support the process of examination.
The Minister of Education
and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini met with the citizens of Batumi and
answered their questions. Most of the questions
were about the High School Exams, Unified Entry Exams and Teachers’
Certification.
National
Association of School Resource Officers (NASRO) and Ministry of Education and
Science of Georgia are holding an international Conference on 19th
and 20th of May in Batumi. Main goal of the “Safe School” conference
is to share Georgia’s school safety program experience with other countries.
Before
the High School Exams, on 19th and 20th of May, the
pre-test is being held for all students, registered for the High School Exams. Pre-test
will be held in more than 1,600 schools of Georgia in 8 sessions. 12th
graders will take approbation exams in all subjects that they will have to pass
at High School Exams.
The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini
met with and fielded the questions from the citizens of Batumi. Most of the questions were about high school exams, unified entry
exams da teachers’ certification. Dimitri Shashkini answered the questions and
explained in details the 2012 plans regarding the exams.
On May 7th, students benefiting from 1,000 GEL vouchers began studying
at modern Poti Vocational Education Center “Phazisi”. 48 of them are refugees
and 20 of them are socially vulnerable and, therefore, received 1,000 GEL
voucher.
The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri
Shashkini, met socially vulnerable students newly enrolled at the Vocational
Education Center “New Wave” with the help of the new funding program based on a
voucher system.
The National Assessment, organized by the National Center for Educational
Quality Enhancement of MES, was held in
Georgian for first graders at
non-Georgian public schools.
The Minister of Education and
Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini and the Governor of the National Bank of
Georgia Giorgi Kadagidze awarded 95 winning schoolchildren of the Academic
Olympics with cash prizes and certificates.
Certified teachers passed an
integrated exam in English and computer skills. This year, the exam was held
for the second time and more than 1,600 certified teachers took part in it. 54%
of teachers successfully passed the exam.
