Many infrastructural, technological and programmatic changes are planned in education system from the new academic year. Today, Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini visited Tbilisi Public School №122 to observe the process of providing the school with new desks and to get familiarized with reconstruction works implemented at school.

By the decision of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, a new subject “Traffic Signs and Road Safety” will be introduced at general educational institutions from the next academic year.

Minister of Education and Science of Georgia Dimitri Shashkini awarded 10 teachers with best results in Certification Examinations 2011 with portable computers. Teachers Certification Exams 2011 went successfully. This year 2500 teachers will obtain certificates. Last year the number of certified teachers was 1200.

Two days friendship cup basketball tournament of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia was organized. There were 4 teams participating in the tournament, teams of the program “Teach and Learn with Georgia”, Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, Embassy of the United States of America to Georgia and Peace Corps Georgia.

By the new academic year, 110 Public Schools of Tbilisi will be rehabilitated. Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia is implementing reconstruction works at 110 schools of Tbilisi at the same time.
