Tamar Kitiashvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, introduced the members of the Global Education Campaign (GCE) and the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) representing European and North American countries, current the situation, challenges and achievements in Georgia's vocational education system.
In her speech, the Deputy Minister also touched upon the issues of the ongoing reforms and plans for the future.
"One of the main priorities of education reform is to develop citizens' vocational and social skills from an early age, thus helping them to manage their careers and aids them in becoming a successful citizen in general. In order to increase access to vocational education, the Ministry provides orientation and certification vocational courses for up to 8,000 primary and secondary school students. Also, by the initiative of the Ministry, it is planned to introduce integrated vocational programs, which will give graduates of vocational colleges the opportunity to continue their studies in higher education institutions”. The visit of the members of the Global Education Campaign (GCE) and the organization Global Partnership for Education (GPE) was organized by the Education Coalition in Georgia. Within the framework of the visit, it is also planned to hold a working meeting with the representatives of Ilia State University on improving the quality of education in Georgia.
