April 6 marks the World Sports Day. For the first time in
the history, according to the decision of the international organization -
"Peace and Sport", the events and activities dedicated to the Sports
Day will be transferred to the online platform. The main message of this year’s
event is "I stay at home and exercise" around the world.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM),
headquartered in Monaco, has developed a special protocol for participating
countries this year. Based on the recommendations, the Ministry of Education,
Science, Culture and Sport and the National Federation - "Sport for
All", will offer public a range of interesting activities across: video,
photo and essay contest, conducting online meetings with famous athletes, as
well as organizing the traditional white card campaign. The white card, a
symbol of peace, will have an additional emphasis this year - athletes will
upload their photo along with a white card and call on the public to donate to
charity to fight against Coronavirus. Please note, the following hashtags are

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of
Georgia announces several competitions to mark the International Sports Day:
1. Video Competition "I Stay at Home and Exercise"
Those wishing to participate in the competition must record
a video of their own or a family member's work out and upload it on their
Facebook, Instagram or Twitter page, select "Georgian National Federation
SportForAll" and include the following three necessary hashtags:

# Stay at home
A necessary condition for the competition is to challenge
two other people. The video should be posted on the social network between
April 3-10.
At the beginning, the Ministry will reveal the 10 most creative and interesting videos, the authors of which will receive symbolic gifts. During the next stage, the winner out of the 10 selected videos will be revealed by the jury consisting of famous athletes. The winner of the competition will be awarded with a special prize, commemorative gifts and autographs of the famous athletes.
2. Drawing competition among school students (grades I-XII)
Between April 3-10, school students, who wish to participate
in the drawing competition should send their drawings to the following email: sportdep@mes.gov.ge from one of the given topics:

The works will be published on the Facebook page of the
Georgian National Federation "Sport for All". The winners will be
announced by the Ministry in 3 age categories (I-IV grades, V-IX grades, X-XII
grades). The winning students will be rewarded with symbolic gifts. In the
additional nomination "Selected Picture of an Athlete", the author of
the best drawing will be identified by a famous athlete and given a symbolic
gift.
3. Essay competition among school students (grades V-XII)

Please note, essays should not exceed 300 words. The winners
will be revealed in 2 age categories (V-IX grades, X-XII grades) and will be
awarded with symbolic gifts.
Georgia joined the UN Initiative "International Sports
Day for Peace and Development" in 2014, and since then this day has been
celebrated in our country. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and
Sports and the National Federation "Sport for All" are the organizers
of the events dedicated to the International Sports Day in Georgia. Also,
various sports federations are actively involved in the celebration of Sports
Day every year.
