Minister of Education and Science, Dimitri Shashkini held a briefing on the false information about teachers’ dismissal. By the announcement of the Minister, in the recent period, false information was spread by one of the organizations that MES plans to dismiss teachers. “I take full responsibility, dismissal of the teachers is not planned. I underline, we have a lack of teachers and therefore, we launched the program “Teach with Georgia” – said the Minister.
Minister responded to another false information that only teachers with 18 working hours would maintain jobs at schools. Dimtri Shashkini said, this information is not true. Minister explained that one of the requirements of MES to the School Principals was to fairly distribute working hours among the teachers because salaries of the teachers depend on these hours. Table of organization is approved exactly in this period and MES asks to fill working duration to the teachers as far as possible in order to receive high salaries. Minister confirmed falsehood of above mentioned information one more time and called that people who spread the ill-founded information to think about elder teachers who emotionally react on such disinformation.
The third topic, Dimitri Shashkini highlighted, is relations between MES and professional unions. “MES had never interfered in the activities of professional unions and is not going to do this in the future. This is not our competence. We only ask to regulate relations between teachers and the Unions in accordance with law. We will not allow anybody to ask teachers money without permission and transfer this money in other organizations. We had always protected teachers’ interests and we will still take all possible measures to ensure their rights”. – announced the Minister.
