Founded by the Council of Europe, the Association - Compendium of Cultural Policies & Trends has published a report on the cultural events offered online by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia.
The Compendium report positively assesses the diverse and interesting activities offered to the general public by the cultural organizations, existing within the network of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia.
"Despite the current situation, the Ministry has maintained and extended the application deadline for up to 16 open competitions aimed at supporting local cultural organizations and individual artists", states the article.
Also, according to the article, all art institutions under the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia have launched a mass online campaign #stayathome #cultureforyou, which provides remote access to cultural services for the general public. Notably, the campaign was joined by 24 organizations associated with the Ministry (including museums, theaters, ensembles and other art organizations).
Furthermore, the report provides a detailed information on the calendar of cultural events created by the Ministry, actively disseminated on the social media pages of both the Ministry and various art organizations with the following hashtag: #stayathome and #cultureforyou. It is emphasized that the above initiative has aroused public interest, even amassing 50,000 online viewers for one of the folk concerts at times. Online performances of Georgian theaters have been well received both in Georgia and abroad. The online film screenings, organized by the Georgian National Film Center, and the Writers House project, was also a swift success.
Moreover, the article also positively evaluates all the activities carried out within the scope of Georgian cultural heritage, particularly: virtual tours offer by the museums, various cognitive programs provided in an online format, “History as told by the Exhibits” TV project by the National Museum, 3D access to the cultural heritage museums, provided by the National Agency for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and so forth.
The document also mentions the planned renovation of cultural heritage monuments within the framework of the State Program for the Protection of Cultural Heritage. Preparatory procedures for the renovation of more than 30 cultural heritage sites are already underway. This year, up to 60 cultural heritage sites are to be renovated, thanks to the largest donor in this field – Cartu Foundation.
According to the report, on March 30, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, in cooperation with the First Channel, launched the project Teleskola. The project allows all students, regardless of whether they have access to the Internet, to gain access to interesting and cognitive lessons across all subjects, including fine arts and music.
