The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, in cooperation with the National Commission of UNESCO, offers individuals to submit their project applications for funding under the UNESCO 2020-2021 Participation Program.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) continues to work with its member states for the further development of priority areas and important programs. The Participation Program is one of the tools for UNESCO to support the member states. The program is an instrument through which Member States can implement projects once every two years, in line with the priorities / strategic goals set by the organization. Organizations interested in the above, should send the following documents to the e-mail address of the Secretariat of the Georgian National Commission for UNESCO: unesco@mfa.gov.ge, by June 10, 2020:
- Short project abstract in Georgian language (maximum 1 page);
- Completed application form in English (for application form and project standard information, please click the link Benchmarks.
- The documents must be accompanied by an official application from the applicant organization on behalf of the Georgian National Commission for UNESCO.
- During the process of project evaluation, attention will be paid to the letter of recommendation of the relevant sectoral state agency.
The first selection of projects will be made by the UNESCO National Commission, and the final decision on the funding will be made by the UNESCO Head Office in Paris.
UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) was founded on November 16, 1945, and its main goal is to establish peace and security in the world through cooperation between countries in the fields of education, social and natural sciences, culture and communication; Creating favorable conditions for dialogue between civilizations, cultures and peoples based on respect for general values.
Georgia became a full member of UNESCO on October 7, 1992. In the same year, the National Commission for UNESCO and the Secretariat of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia were established. The commission is responsible for coordinating cooperation between UNESCO and Georgia. During the many years of cooperation, several UNESCO-funded projects have been implemented in Georgia, Georgia has participated and still does in the organization's elected bodies and considers the recommendations provided. During 2018-2019, the total amount of projects funded by UNESCO and implemented in Georgia amounted to 70,000 USD.
