Owing to the decision of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Tengiz Gachechiladze – an honored sports journalist of Georgia, was awarded with the highest award in the field of sports - the Knight of Sports.
Tengiz Gachechiladze has been working in journalism since 1958. For 30 years he has been the Editor-in-Chief of the sports newspaper Lelo. He is one of the founders of the Georgian National Olympic Committee. Mr. Gachechiladze is also the laureate of Niko Nikoladze and Mikheil Kakabadze Awards, the proud recipient of the Order of Honor of Georgia and Seoki (Georgian National Olympic Committee) Medal Cavalier, multiple winner of various international awards, and an author of numerous books and publications.
Tengiz Gachechiladze is the only Georgian journalist who has been accredited for 14 Summer and Winter Olympics. It should be noted that Tengiz Gachechiladze was the head of Georgia's first Olympic mission at the 1994 Lillehammer Winter Olympics. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Georgia congratulates Mr. Tengiz on his birthday and wishes him a health and prosperous life!
