A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the Education Coalition and the LEPL-Education Management Information System. The memorandum envisages close coordination and cooperation between the organizations, as well as the implementation and technical support of a new educational project, sponsored by the UK Government, the Gudavadze-Patarkatsishvili Foundation, the East-West Management Institute (EWMI) ACCESS and Channel One Education.
The aim of the project is to ensure the protection of the right to quality education in pre-school and general level. For this purpose, additional educational resources will be created.
Within the scope of general education - "iSchool", complex homework assignments will be created for the students of 1-12 grade. The assignments will be posted on the following website: https://www.el.ge/. Subsequently, all students will be able to remotely get acquainted with the required material and complete the assignments. The first set of assignments will be available for each subject / subject group in the first week of May, followed by the provision of new set of tasks each subsequent week. These learning materials will also be available to teachers.
As for the second component of the project - preschool education, this involves offering recommendations and a variety of activities in a television format to parents of preschool students so that they can continue to educate their children in a family household environment. Also, distance learning guides will be created for schools, teachers, and parents alike to support the management of the distance learning process.
The memorandum was signed by Deputy Minister - Eka Dgebuadze, UNICEF Representative in Georgia - Ghassan Khalil, Chairman of the Education Coalition Board - Irina Khantadze and LEPL - Head of Education Management Information System - Dimitri Beridze.
