On June 2, Shalva Gogoladze, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, addressed the Parliamentary Committee on Sports and Youth Affairs. Shalva Gogoladze spoke about the activities carried out by the Ministry under the conditions of the New Coronavirus pandemic in the field of sports. As it is known, last year, Georgian sports achieved distinguished results on the international arena.
The Deputy Minister spoke in detail about the post-crisis plan and answered the questions of the attendees with detailed explanations. In order to promote the development of professional sports, a temporary Provisional Protocol “On Elimination of Exceptions to Restrictions caused by COVID-19 Crisis” was drafted in cooperation with the Ministry of IDPs from the Occupied Territories, the Ministry of Labor, Health and Social Affairs.
In his speech, Shalva Gogoladze emphasized the fact that Georgia will become an attractive country for sports tourism as well. As Georgia has shown unprecedented results in the fight against the pandemic worldwide, our country will be in the interest of international sports organizations. Georgia already has cultivated many years of experience in hosting large-scale international tournaments.
"Dear delegates, I would like to thank you for your invaluable support, without which the country would not have achieved such a tremendous result. Several significant reforms have been carried out in the field of sports, and this is the result of the international recognition that we are all so proud of. Sports infrastructure has been built and developed, we have hosted dozens of international top tournaments, Georgia occupies an important place on the world sports map. Another grand project will be completed soon - a new basketball hall for 10,000 spectators, which will host the Euro Basket” – stated Shalva Gogoladze.
The Deputy Minister also spoke about the recent events held by the Ministry in the field of sports. The Parliamentary Committee on Sports and Youth Affairs positively assessed the work done by the Ministry under the conditions of the new Coronavirus pandemic.
