Georgian Handball Federation has won the right to host two large-scale international tournaments. In 2021, Georgia will host the European Under-17 Women’s Championship, whereas in 2022, our country will have the honor to host the Under-18 Women’s World Championship.
The Handball Federation plans to hold the 2022 World Cup in Tbilisi and Batumi, where the construction of new sports palaces is currently underway, while the European Championship is scheduled for Tbilisi next year.
2022 U-18 Women’s World Championship will include young handball players from 32 countries, while the 2021 European Championship will involve 8 to 12 teams.
As soon as the restrictions are eased, cause by the pandemic, the Handball Federation, in compliance with the Sports Protocol, plans to resume joint training in August for all age categories.
Georgian Handball Federation enjoys great trust amongst the International and European Federations and is considered one of the best organizers of high-level tournaments.
Since 2015, our country has hosted the European Youth Olympic Festival, the World Junior Championship, the IHF Nations Cup, the EHF Women’s Cup and the IHF/EHF two challenge trophies.
