The school founded by Niko Nikoladze will be fully renovated in the village of Didi Jikhaishi, Samtredia Municipality.
Tamar Kitiashvili, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, together with Zviad Shalamberidze, Imereti Representative visited the historical school and got acquainted with its renovation process.
Renovative works will start in the fall, after which the largest agrarian college in western Georgia will be launched.
Modern training laboratories will be set up, where international exchange programs will be introduced. Students will be able to receive new knowledge in the field of agriculture while enjoying the curriculum created in close cooperation with the private sector.
The agricultural school in Didi Jikhaishi was founded in 1925 under the leadership of the great Georgian thinker, publicist, and public figure Niko Nikoladze. During the 95 years of its existence, the school has gone through various phases, however, the difficult situation created in the country in the 90s has left a heavy mark on the historical school as well.
The institution has been subordinated to the Faculty of Agrarian Sciences and Biosystems Engineering of the Georgian Technical University since 2016. The renovation and the infrastructure development plans were indeed initiated by the Technical University of Georgia, which in the first stage, with the support of the Ministry of Education, envisages the complete rehabilitation of the building.
