A two-day seminar was organized by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia and supported by the EU-funded project "Support to Public Administration Reform in Georgia (PAR)" to effectively plan the process of developing the Education and Science Development Strategy 2022-2030.
The seminar entitled "Developing the strategy for Sducation and Science 2022-2030" was held on August 6-7 in Tsinandali and was attended by Deputy Ministers of Education, Science, Culture and Sport - Ekaterine Dgebuadze, Nunu Mitskevich and Levan Kharatishvili. As we; as various representatives of donor organizations.
Ekaterine Dgebuadze: “The Ministry effectively evaluates the strategy and action plan of the previous years. During the meeting we will hold a summary presentation about the measures that have already been implemented in the field of education and therefore, we will now commence to work on the process of developing a new document. As you know, education is a top priority for the government and, therefore, the new strategic document will pay special attention to ensuring the quality, accessibility and continuity of education.
“Today we gathered for a two-day workshop to assist the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia in starting the process of discussing a new unified educational strategy. This event is held within the framework of the "Public Administration Reform Program" signed between the EU and Georgia. The Ministry of Education is one of the key beneficiaries of our multimillion-dollar program. Given that education and human capital development is one of the most important strategic directions for the state, public administration reform without education reform will obviously not be successful" - stated Nino Kochishvili, EU Program Officer in Georgia.
The participants of the seminar outlined the strategic goals in the field of education and science and discussed the role of the EU "Public Administration Reform Project" in providing technical assistance to the Ministry in the planning process of the strategy development.
Furthermore, during the event, the Deputy Ministers held presentations on the challenges and achievements identified in the system as a result of the implementation of the Education and Science Strategy 2017-2021 and talked about the future policy of the Ministry. Towards the end, the seminar participants discussed the ongoing processes in the education system.
Experts from the EU-funded project "Support to Public Administration Reform in Georgia" participated in the seminar through Zoom software, talked about the importance of the project and introduced the participants to successful education strategies and reforms in European countries.
At the end of the seminar, the parties outlined an action plan for the process of developing Georgia's education and science strategy.
