The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia Mikheil Chkhenkeli together with the Head of the LEPL Educational and Scientific Infrastructure Agency, Davit Partsvania and the representatives of the local government inspected the renovation works of Bakhvi Public School in Ozurgeti Municipality.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli: “Today I visited the public school in the village of Bakhvi in Guria, which is being fully renovated by our ministry. This is a historical school that has brought up many patriots and members of our society. I am incredibly happy, that the children will meet the new academic year in a renovated building where all conditions are created for a perfect learning environment. I would also like to point out that similar projects - school renovations, construction of new schools - are underway across the country, as taking care of our young people and their education is a top priority for our team."
St. Gabriel Bishop Village Bakhvi Public School is currently undergoing a renovation, which includes a complete renovation of the school building - roofing, fencing, heating system installation classroom refurbishment, additional of the gym, corridors, and bathrooms. The process of renewing the general education institution will be completed for the new school year. The complete school renovation is funded by the Educational Infrastructure Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, amounting to a total sum of GEL 1 125 818.
Village Bakhvi School was founded by the Bishop of Imereti Gabriel Kikodze in 1870 and still bears his name. The current building was built in 1934 and it is designed for 700 students. There are currently 120 students at this school.
