Minister of Education and Science, Dimitri Shashkini observed Teachers’ Certification Exam in Georgian Technical University.
Teachers and future teachers were passing the first exam in professional abilities. On July 13, at 08:00a.m. registration for the first session began. Teachers began writing at 09:00a.m. They were given 5 hours.
Test in professional abilities covers 27 tasks. Maximal score of the test is 70. In order to cross the minimal competency level, participant has to receive 43 or more score.
Around 14,000 teachers of Georgian language and literature, mathematics and foreign language will participate in the first round of the exam throughout the whole country. Teachers will pass exam in specialty as well. Certification exams are being held at 2 examination centers of Tbilisi and 12 centers of regions at the same time.
Teachers’ Certification Exams are being held for the first time in Georgia. Process is voluntary and the results – confidential. If teacher cannot pass the barrier, he/she will maintain job and will be able to take an exam several times until 2014.
