Mikheil Saakashvili Summarized Activities of MES

The President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili visited the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia. The President met with the Minister, Dimitri Shashkini and the representatives of MES. Current condition of the Ministry, ongoing activities and plans were discussed at the meeting. The President positively evaluated the consecutive policy of the Ministry and already implemented reforms of the system.

By the announcement of Mikheil Saakashvili, in spite of already implemented activities, the system does not satisfy the modern challenges of the country yet: “We need the essential modernization of the education system. First of all, technical fields should be improved; future of Georgia is the development of the sphere of engineering” – noted the President.

Mikheil Saakashvili spoke about future innovations that are planned in order to advance the teaching process. Providing schools with computers as well as developing skills for IT were highlighted. Conditions in the school environment, the ways of advancement, teachers’ certification and raising salaries, foreign language learning strengthening programs were underlined as well.

“Education is the strategic priority of our country. I want to say that society as well as the government positively evaluates activities of MES.  We see the consecutive program and future plans. After long debates, we developed the program for the nearest months and years, wish you success” – noted the President.

At the end, Mikheil Saakashvili awarded the successful workers of MES with Medals of Honor.
