The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli held a meeting with the Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Ruslan Abashidze and the Minister of Education and Culture, Eka Khoperia and discussed current and future joint projects with them.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli congratulated the Minister of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Eka Khoperia on her appointment and wished her success.
The parties discussed ways to implement future projects in the field of general education, including vocational support for public school teachers in the Georgian-controlled territory and the enrichment of TV School programs.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli informed the guests about the main mega-project of education - Kutaisi International University and noted that the university is an opportunity for students, including young people living in the occupied territories, to receive the highest level of education as their peers receive abroad.
The parties also discussed vocational education in depth and ways to increase accessibility for the population living in the IDPs and occupied territories. The development of the necessary infrastructure for vocational training has started in Potskhoetseri, which will serve this very purpose.
