Minister of Education and Science, Dimitri Shashkini awarded with prizes the schools where the winners of the School Olympiads study. Based on the results of the subjects, unified list of high ranking general educational institutions was created. 27 schools throughout Georgia received the highest scores according to this list and therefore took the first, second and the third places.
Schools that took the first place received 5,000GEL, 4,000GEL was allocated for the schools that took the second place and the schools that took the third place were awarded with 3,000GEL. School infrastructure will be renovated with this sum.
The winners of the School Olympiad are the representatives of almost all regions of Georgia. Many successful schoolchildren study in the schools of villages. Specialized schools were well prepared in technical subjects: Vekua Public School №42, Razmadze Public School №41 and Komarov Tbilisi School №199. Team of Georgia was composed with the schoolchildren of these schools for International Olympiads. Georgian students won in this Olympiad as well.
The schoolchildren of Tsalenjikha, Sagarejo, Ozurgeti and Zugdidi regions took the first places in Georgian language and literature, chemistry, history, geography and foreign languages. They were among 123 schoolchildren who were awarded with prizes and diplomas by the President of Georgia.
More than 100,000 schoolchildren of all regions of Georgia participated in the National School Olympiad 2010. Olympiad is designed to identify talented schoolchildren, encourage the school reforms, support the schoolchildren, teachers and educational process as well as identify the candidates of Georgian team for International Olympiads.
