Owing to the decision of the Interagency Council, the practical training component of vocational education institutions will be resumed from March 1, whereas from March 15 onwards, all vocational institutions operating throughout Georgia will be given the opportunity to fully restore their activities and learning process in their auditoriums. However, the choice of vocational schools regarding the format of education is voluntary and they will make a specific decision in consultation with the Ministry.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Tamar Kitiashvili, held an online meeting with public vocational education institutions regarding the renewal of the educational process and other important issues in vocational education. The participants of the meeting confirmed that the schools are equipped with all the necessary resources and inventory for the prevention of the virus. The administration of vocational institutions, the corps of vocational teachers and students are in full eagerness to continue the educational process on school premises.
According to the Deputy Minister, vocational education institutions have already gained a solid experience are well-prepared to deal with any challenges.
In parallel with the resumption of practical training from March 1, vocational education institutions have begun active training to develop the most flexible curriculum and administrative services to effectively manage student flows to minimize mobility and enable vocational students to update their learning process in a practical work environment.
According to Tamar Kitiashvili, with the renewal of the educational process in auditoriums, the Ministry will start a support-oriented monitoring process to ensure that education at vocational education institutions is carried out in accordance with all existing safety norms.
Current issues in the field of vocational education were also discussed at the online workshop. As it is known, several important initiatives have been implemented in the system recently within the framework of the reform, and at this stage, despite the pandemic, the process of introducing and enacting innovations is underway.
