The President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili met with the second group of native English speaker teachers in Batumi. 102 foreigners from the USA, Canada, England, Poland and other countries of Europe will be distributed in Georgian families of Guria, Samegrelo and Adjara.
The President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili thinks teaching English language to Georgian schoolchildren is the main condition for the development of Georgia.
“The main requirement is to make Georgian children of 5-16 ages the English language speakers. We will achieve this goal in following 4 years; this will give Georgia opportunity to make next steps for the development in the Post-Soviet area in the future decades”,- announced the President at the meeting with the foreign teachers in Batumi. The teachers arrived in Georgia in the scope of the program Teach and Learn With Georgia that is being implemented by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
The President named these ongoing processes in the education system as the Revolution of Education. He thinks, this is the greatest contribution for the development of our country.
“As King David the Builder recruited 50,000 Kipchaks and the country faced the direct modernization, the fact of recruiting around 10,000 English language teachers during three years has the same importance”. – said the President.
According to Mikheil Saakashvili, these innovations are designed to make English as the second language after Georgian for the future generations. Afterwards, considering the demands and the characteristics of the region – Chinese, Arabic, Turkish and Russian will become important as well.
“But the main demand is to make Georgian children English language speakers”,-noted the President.
The third group of the teachers will arrive on August 30. Totally, 1,000 teachers will arrive in Georgia by the end of the year.
