Nunu Mitskevichi, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, Nino Tandilashvili, Deputy Minister of Environment and Agriculture, and representatives of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) held a joint meeting to strengthen forestry education.
At the meeting, the parties outlined issues related to forest education, in particular, plans for further modernization and development of higher education programs in this area.
It should be noted that with the support of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), vocational education programs in forestry were introduced in several colleges and are being successfully implemented to this day. The parties agreed to jointly update the forestry education strategy, which includes both vocational and higher education.
For their part, GIZ representatives expressed their readiness to support higher forest education. The parties planned extended workshops with the involvement of representatives of the employment sector and higher education institutions where forest education academic programs are implemented.
