The first stage of the joint educational project of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia and the Ministry of Defence - the subject - "Defence and Security" has been completed.
Ekaterine Dgebuadze, First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia and Grigol Giorgadze, Deputy Minister of Defence took part in the closing ceremony of the first stage of the project and awarded the principals and teachers involved in the project with various diplomas and certificates.
Ekaterine Dgebuadze thanked the project participants for their selfless work and stressed the importance of the joint project in raising students' awareness of civil security.
As the First Deputy Minister noted, the rate of student involvement in the subject teaching process is quite high and beginning from next year, in order to expand the project, more schools are planned to be involved in the program.
At the initial stage, within the framework of the pilot program, up to 500 10th rade students from different schools of Georgia passed the school textbook "Defence and Security". The aim of the educational program is to increase the knowledge of students and youth on important issues such as: civil security, sources of possible threats, legal framework related to security, first aid methods, Georgian defence system and the activities of the Defence Forces.
The subject of "Defence and Security" is taught by people with military experience in the schools selected in the pilot mode, who have passed a special teacher training course developed by the National Center for Teacher Professional Development.
