The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli held a working meeting with the representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Georgia, Ghasan Khalil, where the sides discussed vaccination plans for teachers.

Mikheil Chkhenkeli noted that the protection of the health of pupils and students is extremely important, for which it is necessary to immunize employees in the education system and thus create a safe educational environment. 

The Minister briefed Ghasan Khalil on the steps taken to vaccinate representatives of the education system and noted that in all immunization centres throughout Georgia, there are additional vaccination cabinets for representatives of the education sector, where vaccination can be done without prior registration with the desired vaccine. According to the Minister, such conditions have been created so that the employees in the education sector can easily be vaccinated and in this way take care of each other and the next generation. 

For her part, Ghassan Khalil said that UNICEF is holding informational meetings for teachers across Georgia about vaccination against Covid 19. The meetings are aimed at providing vaccination information to the audience and are led by renowned health experts and representatives of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health. Ghassan Khalil stressed that many teachers are involved in the immunization process after the meetings. 

During the meeting, the parties noted that it is vital that as many people as possible be involved in the immunization process, for which joint activities of the Ministry and the UNICEF are planned throughout Georgia.

The meeting at the Ministry was attended by Ghasan Khalil Deputy Amy Clancy and UNICEF representatives.
