The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli together with the representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Ghasan Khalil in Georgia attended the process of teacher immunization at Tbilisi State Medical University. They thanked both teachers and representatives of the medical field, with the help of which in the immunization centres are providing this invaluable service. 

As Mikheil Chkhenkeli said in a conversation with teachers, the main way to deal with the virus is mass vaccination. A safe educational environment is only possible through immunization. 

"I visited the space organized by the Medical University together with the head of the UNICEF office in Georgia. Vaccination of teachers and professors is underway in this area. I want to take the opportunity and once again call on everyone to get vaccinated. Let's take care of the health of our children, and our fellow citizens" – stated Mikheil Chkhenkeli. 

Together with the Ministry of Refugees, Labor, Health and Social Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Science, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is actively involved in the teacher vaccination process. Vaccination information meetings are held throughout Georgia. 

 “In order to be able to open schools safely, the involvement of teachers in the vaccination process is extremely important. It is necessary to vaccinate more people in order to protect themselves, as well as those around them and the society.” - said Ghasan Khalili. 

Nino Tabagari, principal of Tbilisi Public School N112, who was vaccinated with the second dose of Pfizer at the Medical University today with her colleagues, says that she feels much safer after the full vaccination: 

"Almost 60% of our school teachers are vaccinated. We believe that this is the security that will enable us to study in a safe school space. I ask everyone to look at the current situation as realistically as possible and to get involved in the vaccination process as much as possible." 

Vaccination of representatives of the education sector in Tbilisi and the regions is ongoing. Teachers and school administration representatives are actively trained in various medical institutions in special cabinets specially allocated for them. As a result, the number of vaccinated teachers has increased significantly. Over the past month, the number of vaccinated teachers has increased from 9 to 46%.
