The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli congratulated the students, teachers, lecturers, and the entire academic space on the start of the new academic year. In his address, the Minister noted, that the studies will kick off remotely on September 15, but this is only temporary. To facilitate the return of students to their natural, classroom environment, it is crucial to consolidate teachers, parents, and the community as a whole in strict adherence to health recommendations.
Mikheil Chkhenkeli: “I congratulate the students, teachers, lecturers, the entire academic space on the beginning of the school year. This year, due to a pandemic, the school year starts in a distance format, but it is temporary.
Today, TV School is being reactivated, a highly important, internationally recognized project, which is one of the most prominent distance learning methods.
As you know, we went with a differentiated approach, which means that on October 4, in cities and villages where the infection rate is less than 4%, schools, vocational schools and higher education institutions will be able to switch to the attended format.
In order for us to achieve this, it is necessary to consolidate the society in strict adherence to the recommendations in the field of healthcare. Here I would especially like to highlight the issue of vaccination of teachers and parents of students. This will allow our children to continue their education in a natural environment, i.e. in classrooms.
We also made an important decision regarding first graders. From a pedagogical point of view, it is extremely important for first graders to have their first school experience, their first lessons in a natural school environment. Accordingly, first-graders will begin their lessons in a natural school environment on October 4 in those cities where the infection rate is less than 4%.
With all my heart, I wish you all good health and success. "
