The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Mikheil Chkhenkeli expresses his condolences over the passing of the famous architect, Giorgi (Giga) Batiashvili, Professor of the Faculty of Architecture of the Academy of Arts, and extends his sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.

Mikheil Chkhenkeli:

"I mourn the passing of the famous Georgian architect, honoured professor of the Faculty of Architecture of the Academy of Arts, Professor Giorgi (Giga) Batiashvili. I extend my sympathies to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased. 

Mr. Giorgi (Giga) Batiashvili was an Academician of the International Academy of Architecture, the Academy of Oriental Architecture, the Georgian Academy of Engineering, a laureate of the International Union of Architects, state, and other awards; Numerous generations of students have been brought up under his supervision. 

"The death of Mr. Giorgi (Giga) Batiashvili is a great loss for our society."
