The Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari, held a meeting with the US Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan, and discussed important educational and scientific projects, which are implemented in partnership with the United States of America.
Giorgi Amilakhvari thanked Kelly Degnan for supporting the development of the fields of education and science and noted that the United States of America has been implementing large-scale initiatives in various directions in Georgia for many years, which significantly contributes to the development of human capital in the country.
The minister expressed his full readiness to introduce more joint educational programs in the education system of Georgia, and according to him, educational programs implemented by the country's main strategic partner are vitally important for young people.
In turn, Kelly Degnan stated that Georgia and the USA have been cooperating fruitfully for many years. The ambassador confirmed, that the United States of America will continue to support the development of the education system of Georgia and its close partnership with the ministry in this direction. During the conversation, the parties discussed ways of implementing future projects and enhance the existing ones.
After the meeting, Giorgi Amilakhvari and Kelly Degnan hosted the teachers participating in the Fulbright English Teaching Assistant program (ETA-English Teaching Assistant) and discussed their results and the importance of the project with them.
Please be reminded, that the Fulbright English language teaching assistant program has been successfully implemented since 2021 with the cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, the International Education Center of Georgia and the Institute of International Education, and its goal is to strengthen English language teaching in Georgia.
