Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Nodar Papukashvili, along with Roland Price, the Regional Director of the World Bank, inaugurated the STEAM extracurricular program at the 126th public school in Tbilisi.
The STEAM extracurricular program received support from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia and the World Bank under the "Innovation, Inclusion, and Quality" project. This initiative aims to provide the necessary resources, equipment, and furniture to enhance the teaching of science subjects in schools, with a particular focus on encouraging the interest of students, especially girls, which may influence their future career choices.
In addition to the 126th public school in Tbilisi, the STEAM extracurricular program has also been introduced at the 5th public school in Zugdidi. These workspaces are designated areas within schools tasked with implementing extracurricular programs as part of the I2Q project and collaborating with other pilot schools.
Equipped with a video conferencing system, these workspaces facilitate online engagement with other schools and enable the execution of various joint events and activities.
The STEAM extracurricular program has already been implemented in 80 pilot schools and is set to be fully integrated into 200 schools by the end of the 2024-2025 school year.
