The Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Giorgi Amilakhvari, currently on a working visit to London, held a meeting with Jamie Arrowsmith, the director of Universities UK International (UUKI), the representative body for British universities, as part of the World Education Forum. Universities UK International represents all British universities on international platforms.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the findings of an in-depth research report on transnational education conducted by Times Higher Education in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth and the British Council. The minister noted that the research results are very promising, offering significant opportunities to attract British universities to Georgia.
It was highlighted that Georgia has the potential to become a regional hub for education, and implementing various projects is crucial in this regard. The participants emphasized the importance of organizing a study visit for British universities to Georgia.
The British side expressed its willingness to conduct this visit, which will help explore Georgia's potential, foster closer ties between Georgian and British universities, and integrate British education into the Georgian system through joint educational programs.
The meeting also addressed promoting cooperation between higher education institutions in Georgia and Great Britain. They discussed the prospects for developing Georgian-British transnational education and specific partnership action plans.
Deputy Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia Nodar Papukashvili and Ambassador of Georgia to Great Britain and Northern Ireland Sophie Katsarava also attended the meeting with the director of Universities UK International (UUKI).
It is noteworthy that Universities UK International represents all British universities on international platforms. UUKI's primary mission is to promote the internationalization of the UK higher education sector and represent it on global higher education platforms.
