To honour the birthday of Ilia Chavchavadze on November 8, the Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth Affairs of Georgia has organized a week-long event dedicated to the life and works of the renowned writer and publicist.

From November 8 to November 14, the Korneli Kekelidze National Center of Manuscripts is hosting an exhibition featuring personal archival materials of Ilia Chavchavadze. The event provides public schools with the opportunity to explore his archival collection and biography preserved at the National Center of Manuscripts.

Minister of Education, Science, and Youth Affairs, Aleksandre Tsuladze, visited the exhibition, where he joined students in viewing the presented documents and exploring Chavchavadze’s personal archives. The Minister emphasized the importance of showcasing these rarely seen exhibits to students, as they offer valuable insights into the life and creative achievements of this significant figure. He remarked that the exhibition of Chavchavadze’s writings and correspondence offers a fresh perspective on his legacy.

The exhibition, hosted by Zaza Abashidze, Director of the Korneli Kekelidze National Center of Manuscripts, includes over 100 documents and offers 30-40 minute guided tours for visitors.

The exhibition is divided into four sections:

1. Biographical Materials and Personal Items: This section includes Chavchavadze’s passport, organizational documents, entrance cards, and personal items such as a leather wallet.
2. Creative Works: This section showcases poems, stories, and publicist letters, illustrating the evolution of Chavchavadze’s creative process. Visitors can explore early drafts, revisions, and final versions of his works, providing insight into his meticulous approach to writing.
3. Books and Personal Records: A dedicated section highlights Chavchavadze’s personal library and written notes.
4. Personal Correspondence: This section displays letters and other forms of communication, shedding light on his relationships and thoughts.

In addition to the exhibition, schools across Georgia are engaging in various educational and cultural activities to celebrate Ilia Chavchavadze's birthday, fostering a deeper appreciation of his contributions among students.

This week-long celebration aims to inspire the younger generation by connecting them with the legacy of one of Georgia’s most influential literary and public figures.
