Givi Mikhanadze and ADA University Rector focused on the prospects of expanding higher education partnership

The Minister of Education, Science, and Youth of Georgia, Givi Mikhanadze, held a working meeting with Hafiz Pashayev, Rector of ADA University - the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy.

During the discussion, the parties reviewed ongoing and planned reforms within their respective higher education systems, as well as shared long-term strategic goals.

Minister Givi Mikhanadze informed Rector Hafiz Pashayev about Georgia’s ambitious higher education reform initiative, currently being developed under the leadership of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and coordinated by the Governmental Commission for Higher Education Reform. He noted that the reform envisions fundamental transformation of Georgia’s higher education landscape over the next four years, with a comprehensive concept to be presented to the public in the coming future.

The meeting also emphasized the longstanding partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan in the field of higher education, and highlighted the importance of launching new joint projects to further expand this collaboration. These include the development of bilateral academic programs, the introduction of diverse exchange opportunities for students, and the organization of thematic summer schools.

The discussion additionally touched on the potential introduction of Georgian language courses at ADA University. Both sides expressed readiness to begin work on this initiative with active involvement from Georgian and Azerbaijani stakeholders.

Rector Hafiz Pashayev expressed his gratitude to Minister Mikhanadze for the productive cooperation and reaffirmed his university’s commitment to strengthening future collaboration through joint initiatives.

The meeting was also attended by Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Zurab Pataradze.
