The Training Ship “Academy” Was Rehabilitated

First Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Koka Seperteladze and Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of Adjara, Gia Abuladze visited the Ship “Academy” of Batumi State Maritime Academy. Service Agency of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia presented the educational institution with the ship free of charge in February, 2010. The Ministry allocated 50,000 GEL for the rehabilitation of the ship. Important renovation works were held in the scope of this sum.

Before presenting the ship, graduates of Batumi State Maritime Academy were only awarded with the diplomas. They had to pass practical experience on the different ships. From now on, students will pass training on their own ship. After passing six-month course, the sailor will receive the working diploma for the first time in the history of the academy.

Future sailors master the following specialties on the ship: helmsman, engineer of ship and electro engineer that fully satisfy the requirements of the sea convention.
