Many honorable guests attended the event dedicated to the new academic year at Sokhumi State University. Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Nodar Surguladze was among the guests. He congratulated the students on the beginning of the new academic year and wished them success.

Chairman of the Government of Abkhazia, George Baramia, Minister of Education and Culture of Abkhazia, Dali Khomeriki, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia, Gia Gvazava as well as Deputy State Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and singer Paata Burchuladze were among the guests.

500 students were enrolled in Sukhumi State University according to 2010 Unified Entry Exams. Totally, around 3,000 students study in the university. They are involved in the projects of EU. This time, 4 students were sent in Brussels from the educational institution.
