Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Irine Kurdadze met with the Deputy Minister of Education and Research of Norway, Lisbet Rugtvedt. All key issues of inclusive education, currently existing in Georgian education system as well as successful steps in this direction were discussed at the meeting.
Development of the principles of inclusive education is one of the priorities of MES and part of the strategic plan. Currently the project Development of Inclusive Education in 9 Regional Public Schools operates for the implementation of this plan with the financial and methodological support of the Ministry of Education and Research of Norway.
Three-year (2009-2011) assistance program of the Schoolchildren with Special Needs is being implemented according to the State strategy and action plan. It is designed to develop inclusive education throughout Georgia.
After familiarizing with the implemented works, Lisbet Rugtvedt made positive assessments and promised to support the project implementation in the future.
In the scope of the visit, visiting inclusive education pilot school №10 is planned. Deputy Minister of Education and Research of Norway, Lisbet Rugtvedt will get familiarized with the current initiatives of inclusive education.
