In the scope of the campaign Plant a Tree, Make Tbilisi Green, Resource Officers planted trees in 5 Public Schools of Tbilisi together with the schoolchildren. Cypress and cedars were planted in the public schools №169, №192, №175, №152 and №65. Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini personally took part in the campaign together with the Resource Officers.
According to Dimitri Shashkini, joint participation of the schoolchildren and the Resource Officers in similar activities and the support of the development of healthy environment at schools are very important.
Campaign Plant a Tree, Make Tbilisi Green is being held with the blessing of His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos Patriarch of all Georgia, Ilia II, with the support of Ecology and Verdurization Department of Tbilisi City Hall.
In order to keep schools safe, Resource Officers commenced their activities in the Public Schools of Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi and Zugdidi from the new academic year. They will start operating in Gori and Rustavi Public Schools by the end of the year. Three-person group of Resource Officers, including one woman, passed training in the Police Academy in the scope of the Safe School program. They mastered the skills for solving conflicts.
Resource Officers’ duty is to prevent conflicts and provide the schoolchildren with any kind of aid. They are not allowed to punish the schoolchildren. They are responsible to care for the safety of the schoolchildren.
New initiative that is being implemented in the frame of the Safe School program, envisages giving parents guarantee of their children’s safety.
