Week dedicated to 170th anniversary of Akaki Tsereteli was opened with the scientific conference held at Iv. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini delivered greeting speech at the conference. According to Dimitri Shashkini, Akaki Tsereteli – poet, writer and the public figure had the greatest contribution for the Georgian nation. Posterity should realize his role. Therefore, week dedicated to Akaki Tsereteli is being held throughout Georgia by the initiative of MES.
The week was opened with the plenary session at Tbilisi State University and lasted the whole day. Professors, Doctors and students of the faculty of Humanities of Tbilisi State University took part in this session. They presented following topics on works of Akaki Tsereteli: Merit of Akaki Tsereteli, Akaki Tsereteli and Modern Environment, Akaki Tsereteli’s Political Ideology and etc.
Week dedicated to Akaki Tsereteli is being held in the Public Schools of Georgia as well. In the scope of the week, the schools will plan and implement different activities. Competition of the topics on the meaning of freedom will be held as well.
VIII-XII graders will take part in the competition. Award ceremony of the winners will be held in the house-museum of Akaki Tsereteli in the village of Skhvitori.
