Leading companies of the world got interested in constructing new computer producing factory in Georgia. Minister held a meeting concerning this issue with the founder of Intel netbook producer company in Portugal, JP Sa Gouto , Jorge Sa Couto and business manager of the famous project “Magellan”, Luis Silveira Pinto.
Georgia’s successful involvement in the famous project “Magellan” was noted at the meeting. The project envisages distribution of netbooks among the first graders. This year, the schoolchildren of the pilot schools were provided with the computers. All first graders will be given netbooks free of charge in the next academic year.
In order to implement this project, Portuguese side is ready to develop computer producing in Georgia that will create new jobs in the country and at the same time, decrease the cost of the computers. Other computers as well as the netbooks will be produced in Georgia that will make computers more accessible for the society.
Construction of the computer producing country became available after signing Memorandum of Cooperation between the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini and Vice President of Intel, John Davies.
The leading company Intel will provide the factory with high quality processors.
