In the scope of the Safe School concept, facts of violence have been significantly decreased after introducing the Office of Resource Officers. According to the results of the research, following statistical data were identified:

• Facts of smoking are practically abolished;
• Students attendance in time is increased by 80%;
• Facts of secret missing are decreased by 75%;
• Facts of extortion are decreased by 95%;
• Violence among the schoolchildren is decreased by 80%;
• Facts of vandalism are decreased by 90%.

These issues were discussed as the main topics at the meeting between the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia and 300 Resource Officers of Tbilisi Public Schools. Dimitri Shashkini thanked them for their efficient work. “Statistics identify that Office of the Resource Officers work effectively. The schoolchildren are in the safe environment and discipline is followed that is necessary during the school hours”.

We would remind you that in order to keep schools safe, Resource Officers have been operating in Public Schools of Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi and Zugdidi since the new academic year.

Resource Officers will start their activities in all Public Schools of Gori and Rustavi by the end of the year.
