The President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili and the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini opened newly constructed school in the village of Chkhari, Imereti region.
World Bank funded the construction works that began in 2008. Works were implemented by Municipal Development Fund. As the old school was damaged after 1991 earthquake, the teaching process was stopped and the children were distributed in the nearby schools, building of the new school was decided.
The schoolchildren of the village of Chkhari are able to receive full scale education in the new school. The school is in compliance with the modern standards and 232 children study there.
The school already has achievements. Winners of scientific conferences study there. 15 of them were awarded with the First Quality Diploma. 10 students are holders of the Second Quality Diploma and 7 – the Third Quality Diploma. Schoolchildren are actively involved in the National Educational Olympiads.
4 excellent schoolchildren were awarded in the scope of the program My First Computer. The school has achievements in sports as well. Around 40 graduates of Golden and Silver Medals, 41 holders of science and academic degrees are the representatives of the school.
The President of Georgia presented excellent pupils of the school – Gvantsa Amiranashvili and Giorgi Robakidze with the portable computers.
